Obligations II conference
Andrew
Robertson and Michael Bryan may be too modest to draw attention
to the success of the Obligations II conference which they organised
and which was held at the Law School of the University of Melbourne
on Thursday and Friday, 15 and 16 July. From my perspective it was
run most efficiently and provided lots of stimulation. Other members
of the list who were present might like to comment.
For
those who were not there, Andrew and Michael decided that the conference
should be dedicated to the memory of Peter Birks. After the Dean's
welcome, Peter Cane opened the proceedings with a personal tribute
to Peter Birks. At the first Obligations Conference two years ago,
there was no doubt that Peter Birks, though not physically present,
dominated much of the discussion.
A
selection of the papers from that first conference was published
in time for the second one by Cavendish. Members of the list who
were not present on this occasion may like to look out for that
publication.
