Subject: | RE: SLS Conference 2012 - restitution section |
Dear all,
Can I remind you of my earlier call for papers for the Restitution Section at the 2012 Society of Legal Scholars Conference. This year's conference will take place from Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th September at the University of Bristol, with Professor Keith Stanton as President. Restitution will take place in the first half, so papers will be presented on the Tuesday and Wednesday. The deadline for offers is next week (5th March), and I am happy to accept papers on any aspect of restitution not merely those that address the overall theme of the conference, which is Pressing Problems in the Law and Legal Education. Please also inform me if you are proposing a paper for another section; there is no bar on giving more than one paper although it is useful for planning purposes and co-ordinating with other convenors to have a heads-up on this.
As in past years there will be a best paper prize; the criteria can be found at http://www.legalscholars.ac.uk/conference/best-paper-prize.cfm. Papers for the prize must be placed in the paper bank by 3rd September. The Prize includes a monetary award of £250, and the winning paper will be published in Legal Studies. The Conference will also have additional sessions on legal education within particular subject areas: members who would be willing to contribute to such sessions on restitution are also welcome to contact me. Remember that all speakers, presenters, delegates and convenors (so that means me too) are required to book and pay to attend the conference. Booking information will be circulated later in the year.
I also write to inform you that if you were considering presenting a poster on restitution at the conference that an example can now be found on the society’s website
http://www.legalscholars.ac.uk/pubdocs/downloads/sampleposter.pptx
The call for posters is open to all colleagues at any stage of their career. Please contact Annette Morris at MorrisA7@cardiff.ac.uk if you are interested in presenting a poster.

Subject: SLS Conference 2012 - restitution section
Call for Papers for the Restitution Section at the 2012 SLS Conference at Bristol University
I write to invite proposals for papers for the restitution subject section meeting at the 2012 Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference. This year's conference will take place from Tuesday 11th to Friday 14th September at the University of Bristol, with Professor Keith Stanton as President. Restitution will take place in the first half, so papers will be presented on the Tuesday and Wednesday.
The overall theme of the Conference is Pressing Problems in the Law and Legal Education, but I am happy to see proposals for papers that do not directly address the theme. All colleagues, whether practitioners, research students, early career academics or more senior colleagues, are invited to offer papers. Those proposing papers do not need to be members of the Society to present a paper, but you are encouraged to join, and a preferential rate is offered to members when booking to attend the Conference. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please e-mail me at Duncan.sheehan@uea.ac.uk with a title and a brief abstract. I am happy to discuss any potential submissions informally. Please also inform me if you are proposing a paper for another section; there is no bar on giving more than one paper although it is useful for planning purposes and co-ordinating with other convenors to have a heads-up on this. The deadline for proposals is 9am on the 5th March.
This year, the SLS is introducing the presentation of research posters. If any members of the section would be interested in offering a poster, please let me know. There will be an award for the best poster, and an example will in due course be placed on the website so that those unfamiliar with research posters can see what it involves.
