University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law (Western Law)
Academic Appointments

The Faculty of Law at The University of Western Ontario expects to make faculty appointments (open as to rank) effective July 1, 2014, subject to budgetary and University approval. The goal of Western Law in its appointment process is to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and to promote a law program that is both rigorous and challenging.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Faculty will consider applications from top-quality candidates with interests in all areas of the law. However, the Faculty is looking in particular to enhance its strength in the areas of Criminal Law, Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Law and Health Law and Policy. Entry level probationary appointments will ordinarily be made at the level of Assistant Professor. However, if qualifications warrant, appointments may be made at the levels of Associate or full Professor, and Western Law encourages applications from accomplished recognized scholars at the rank of full Professor. Applicants who currently hold faculty positions may wish to contact W. Iain Scott, Dean at iain.scott@uwo.ca

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for appointment, candidates must have a superior academic record. This normally includes a JD or LLB or equivalent degree as well as relevant advanced graduate degree, or its equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate a record of, or a strong potential for, excellence in scholarly research and teaching. They should in addition have the ability and willingness to contribute to the intellectual and scholarly life of the Faculty community and to the University more generally.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applicants should send a letter of application identifying their areas of interest in research and teaching, curriculum vitae, copies of JD, LLB and graduate transcripts for all degrees obtained since 2008, and three letters of academic reference, to:
