CYBERLAW SUBJECT
SECTION
SLS Annual Conference, London School of Economics, 15-18 September 2008
The Cyberlaw subject section will meet for a fourth time at the London conference. The section's convenor is Steve Hedley (s.hedley@ucc.ie).
WHEN AND WHERE
The full conference runs from 2pm on Monday 15th September until midday on Thursday 18th. Some further details are available on the SLS website. Booking forms for the conference should go out in May. There is a conference theme of "The Impact of Legal Scholarship", though don't worry if you can't see any direct connection with a cyberlaw topic.
SUBJECT SECTION
Papers are welcome on any aspect of cyberlaw, Internet law or law-and-computing. The group has no particular theoretical perspective of its own, and welcomes papers from any angle.
PAPERS
The session has four 90-minute sessions available, in session B (starts Wednesday 17th 11.15, ends Thursday 18th 12.45). There will be either two or three papers in each session. Ideally, papers will be available in advance, so that they can be distributed from the SLS's electronic paper bank.
MONEY
About half of those attending the SLS conference are giving papers at it. It is therefore not practical for the organisers to pay registration costs or expenses. Presenters of papers must book into and pay for the SLS Conference like other delegates. There is a very small sum available to cover unusual expenses - let me know if you can suggest worthy recipient(s).
ME
I am Steve Hedley, of the Law Faculty, University College Cork, and I am currently the section's convenor. The best way of contacting me is e-mail (s.hedley@ucc.ie) - phone, if you need it, is +353 21 490 3990.
IMPORTANT DATES
3 March: main deadline for proposed papers.
12 August: subject section programme goes to printer; last date for drafts/abstracts to be uploaded to conference server.
15 September: conference begins.
UPDATES
Further information will be posted here, and in important cases also to the CYBERLAW list.
