Subject: Damages buffs

The House of Lords has a nice damages case due out tomorrow, The Achilleas (on appeal from The Achilleas [2007] 2 Lloyd's Rep. 555). Put briefly: if a time-charterer redelivers the ship a few days late, is he liable for (a) the extra days' hire, or (b) the vast profit which the late redelivery prevented the owner making from another long-term charter which he had arranged end-on when rates were sky-high? The CA said (b): shipping lawyers' comments on this result were largely unprintable on a family website. I'm not taking bets as to what the HL will do.
