- The first monograph on the place and significance of standing
within private law, arguing for the distinctiveness of standing as a
private law concept and the existence of standing rules in private law
- Takes a philosophically informed approach to a private law puzzle,
supported by extensive doctrinal analysis
- Explains the importance of standing in existing debates within
contemporary private law theory about rights and remedies, duties and
powers, and the role of the state
- Demonstrates how recognising standing's doctrinal distinctiveness
can help us to better interpret, develop, and resolve debates within
different areas of private law, including the laws of contract, torts,
unjust enrichments, and relatedly the law of trusts
