Subject: Civil Rules of Practice in
Singapore, UK NZ and NSW
Colleagues
The
province of Ontario is undergoing major changes to its Rules of Practice. They
will impact all areas but in particular jury, personal injury and medical
negligence.
Singapore,
the UK, NZ and NSW have been touted as having solved the backlog problem with a
paper-heavy model.
If there is
anyone who could advise me on how their rules are working in practice I would
be most grateful. I am a member of our Civil Rules Committee and would like to
know if the rules in these jurisdictions are transportable to Ontario and if
they are indeed working as expected.
Many
thanks.
