Dear ODG Colleagues,

I am writing with a reminder that submissions for the sixth annual workshop of the Yale-Toronto-Columbia Private Law Theory Discussion Group are due in two weeks’ time, i.e., on December 19, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. More details can be found in the attached Call for Papers. Questions, requests to be added to our mailing list, and submissions can all be directed to privatelawtheory@yale.edu.

The Discussion Group showcases in-progress work on theoretical and foundational questions in private law, broadly understood to include (but not limited to) contract, tort, property, unjust enrichment, equity, and remedies. Papers engaging with normative, analytical, comparative, critical, economic, or historical perspectives on private law are all welcome.

The workshop itself will be held on Thursday March 26, 2026, from12:15-4:00pm EST in a hybrid format. The selected junior scholar presenters and our keynote speaker will be announced in the new year.

We also invite everyone to attend the workshop either via Zoom or in person at Yale Law School, the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, or Columbia Law School. To register to attend—i.e., to receive the Zoom link, be added to the paper distribution mailing list, and, in the case of in-person attendees, be added to the lunch order—please complete this online form: https://forms.gle/jQ3E311TqTkPp7rP9.

Best wishes,

Amit (on behalf of the Yale-Toronto-Columbia Private Law Theory Discussion Group)

Dear ODG Members,

I am writing to share the attached Call for Papers for the Yale-Toronto-Columbia Private Law Theory Discussion Group's annual workshop, which will be held on March 26, 2026. This year, we are pivoting towards featuring in-progress work by junior scholars, recent graduates, fellows, and (graduate and JD/LLB) students. If any ODG members have students or junior colleagues in mind who might be interested in submitting a draft paper, we would be grateful if you could share this with them. (Or, if you are an early-career scholar, graduate student, or fellow yourself, please consider submitting!).

The deadline to submit a draft paper is December 19, 2025, at 11:59 pm ET, and if you (or your students) have any questions, please feel free to write to privatelawtheory@yale.edu. More information is in the attached document.

Best wishes,

Amit (on behalf of the Yale-Toronto-Columbia Private Law Theory Discussion Group)
