Date - Canadian Law of Obligations V (CLO V)
Dear ODG members,
On behalf of the Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University, I'm
pleased to share that we will be hosting the fifth biennial Conference on
the Canadian Law of Obligations (CLO V) on May 28-29, 2026, in Kamloops,
BC.
The theme for CLO V is: 'Dissenting Voices in Canadian Private Law.' The aim of the
conference is to provide a forum for participants to critically examine
prevailing doctrines and to explore perspectives - doctrinal, theoretical, or
comparative - that challenge dominant understandings. Topics will include, but
are not limited to, dissenting judicial opinions, underappreciated doctrinal
developments, and structural critiques of private law in theory and practice.
We are honoured to welcome Madam Justice Suzanne Côté of the Supreme
Court of Canada as our first keynote speaker, with a further keynote to be
confirmed.
Please save the date! The Call for Abstracts will be released in August,
alongside the launch of the conference website.
Established and early career scholars - including graduate students and
post-doctoral researchers - are warmly encouraged to consider applying.
In the meantime, ODGers with questions or early expressions of interest
are welcome to contact me at CLOV@tru.ca.
Looking forward to seeing
many of you in Kamloops in 2026,
Krish Maharaj
