I write with the sad news that Richard Sutton, lately Emeritus Professor in
the University of Otago Faculty of Law, passed away on 17 April in Otago
after a struggle with cancer.
Richard had a long career as a legal academic and wrote extensively on
private law, including the law of restitution, and also served for several
years as a member of the New Zealand Law Reform Commission.
