Thanks to James Lee for bringing FJ Chalke Ltd & Anor v Revenue & Customs [2009]

EWHC 952 (Ch) (08 May 2009)

Times has reported that the decision is likely to cost the taxman 'billions' of

pounds <http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/article6248908.ece>,

but then the Revenue would say that, wouldn't they?

I hope to organise a small seminar in Dublin in September on the general issue

of Restitution from the Executive, in which, I have no doubt, Chalke will

feature prominently. At this stage, the seminar is still a relatively tenative

idea, but if any list members would like to contribute or particpate in any

way, or have any suggestions about it, please do not hesitate to get in contact

with me, off-list.
