Subject: [RDG] J. Edelman J.

Last week, it was announced that Jamie Edelman has been appointed a judge of
the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
No doubt many will receive this news, as I did, with 'un oeil qui rit et un
oeil qui pleure'. Jamie has made, as everyone knows, enormous contributions
to our understanding of the law of unjust enrichment and related fields. He
has also been instrumental in the organization of several really significant
academic conferences over the last few years.
I don't suppose we can expect him to keep organizing conferences, but I feel
certain that we can expect him to be the kind of judge who comes to
conferences--and whether in judgments or in other forms, I am sure that he
will continue to contribute to our understanding of private law.
Congratulations Jamie!
Lionel
