Art Bonfield, one of my law-school professors at Iowa, finished 50 years on the job. Yale graduate, Art is a public-law professor, a nationally recognized constitutional- and administrative-law specialist. The law-school magazine interviewer asked Art about his first day on the job. “What was your first day like at Iowa?” Bonfield: “I found my office and moved in. Dean Ladd informed me I’d be teaching a course called Restitution. I told him I had not ever had such a course in law school. He said “You’ll learn it.” I did.
