Subject: Restitution Section: Call for Papers for 2015 Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference at University of York: Reminder

Dear all

Restitution Section: Call for Papers for 2015 SLS Annual Conference at University of York

I am writing to remind you all of the call for papers for the Restitution section of the 2015 SLS Annual Conference to be held at the University of York from Tuesday 1st September – Friday 4th September. This year's theme, 'Law's Subjects: Subject to Law', has been chosen to mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta and the 250th anniversary of Entick v Carrington. Thank you to those who have already volunteered, but there are still slots available.

We will meet in the second half of the conference on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th September. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please submit an abstract by Friday 27th March. All abstracts must be submitted through the EasyChair conference system which can be accessed using the following link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=sls2015. If for any reason the web link does not work, please cut and paste the web address into your internet browser. If you have not used EasyChair system before, you will need to create an account before making your submission. This is a pretty easy and self-explanatory process. Please do let me know if you experience any problems; I have a “cheat sheet” that may help.

I would welcome proposals for papers on any issue relating to restitution or unjust enrichment including those addressing this year's conference theme. As the SLS is keen to ensure that as many members with good quality papers as possible are able to present, we discourage speakers from presenting more than one paper at the conference. With this in mind, I would be grateful if you could let me know if you are also responding to calls for papers from other sections. If you feel the paper you propose to present in the restitution section may be of interest to another section in the second half of the conference, please do let me know this as well as it may be possible to arrange a joint session. You can see which sections are in which half of the conference on the SLS website (http://sections.legalscholars.ac.uk/index.cfm). As last year there will also be the opportunity to present a research poster at the conference. Further details will be circulated separately in due course.

Please note that whilst you need only send a proposed title and abstract at this stage, speakers are encouraged to submit a full paper via EasyChair before the conference. The SLS offers a Best Paper Prize which can be awarded to academics at any stage of their career. The Prize carries a £250 monetary award and winning papers are published in Legal Studies. To be eligible:

·  speakers must be fully paid-up members of the SLS;

·  papers must not exceed 11,000 words including footnotes (as counted in Word);

·  papers must be uploaded to EasyChair by Monday 24th August; and

·  papers must not have been published previously or have been accepted or be under consideration for publication.

I have also been asked to remind you that all speakers, delegates and convenors (so me as well) will need to book and pay to attend the conference. Booking information will be circulated in due course.
