Subject: [RDG] Happy 20th birthday to RDG

Since my announcement of [2015] RLR was only made in 2016, I allow myself another slightly belated announcement. I missed the 20th birthday of the RDG, which took place on 30 September 2015.

Like others, I started to use email regularly from about late 1994 and this soon led to the RDG. Younger colleagues may be amused to hear that I can recall a conversation, around the same time, in which Bruce Ziff used the term "web site" and I did not know what he meant.

During 1996-2000 the RDG was based in the Oxford Law Faculty, and since 2000 has been running here at McGill.

Steve Hedley's archive at http://www.ucc.ie/law/restitution/rdg/9509001.htm goes back to the very beginning (but ends in January 2009). (My google search of "RDG archive" to find Steve's site revealed to me that RDG is also the name of a musical group and the abbreviation for the Royal Dragoon Guards.)

Greetings everyone, and welcome to the restitution discussion group! Thank you for your interest and for signing up. Some weeks ago I chose 30 ...

The first message records that there were about thirty members; we are now up to 489. The archive at http://list2.mcgill.ca/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A0=ENRICHMENT covers the entire period at McGill (2000-today).

Thanks to everyone for their contributions over the years!

Lionel
