Would I be right in thinking that Sunderland is closer to Newcastle, Tyne-and-Wear than Callaghan to Newcastle, NSW? The people of Sunderland would not think of calling their University after their close neighbour and rival.
-----Original Message----- Dear Charles and others;
All I can say is that they should have sent it to Newcastle on the Hunter, NSW - which is the home of my beloved institution! We even have a football team that has made the "A-League" grand final in Australia this year (not that we have anyone of the calibre of Kevin Keegan). Yes, we do play what you call football (what we used to call soccer) down under! However, I bet we have nicer beaches than either of the "old country" Newcastles. See the tourist website here.
